If you are reading this then you are probably one of the lucky buggers who found a Series X|S under your Christmas tree or just looking for the next great game to play. If you are new to Microsoft’s behemoth then you will of no doubt heard all about Game Pass, the best value for gaming on the market full of great titles to download and enjoy in full. Here at TBG we have compiled a list of some of the very best offerings available to download now and help you get the most out of your shiny new console that’s actually not shiny.

Halo Infinite

The flagship franchise that launched the Xbox brand is back and bigger than ever. Rejoin the Master Chief on another explosive adventure that takes the Halo series to new heights. Explore the open world of Zeta Halo on a mission to stop The Banished from unleashing a deadly weapon on the galaxy. Once you are done with saving the day, head onto the multiplayer which is technically free to play and join the fight for supremacy in an ever-expanding experience.


Halo: MCC

Possibly the best value for money whether you buy it on disc or just enjoy it through Game Pass. MCC provides players with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 to enjoy solo or co-op with a friend. Experience the Spartan 117’s epic saga from start to finish (Halo 5 and both Halo Wars are also available to download separately) perfect for newcomers to the series looking to prepare themselves for Halo Infinite or for anybody wanting to relive the iconic franchise all over again.


Gears 5

Guaranteed to make your eyes dazzle, Gears 5 is the latest entry in the brutal Gears series. Bigger, Louder and Prettier than ever as Series X|S players will experience reduced load times, support for Quick Resume, variable refresh rates, variable rate shading and 120 FPS in Versus. On Xbox Series X, visual fidelity jumps to 4K Ultra resolution courtesy of the Ultra-HD pack and Ultra-Spec graphics quality settings and if all that isn’t enough, you can play co-op with friends and even play as Dave Bautista! The full Gears of War series is also available to experience through Game Pass including Gears of War Ultimate Edition and Gears Tactics.


Forza Horizon 5

Another title to really show what the Series X|S can do comes in the form of the open-world extravaganza Forza Horizon 5. Explore the lush environments of Mexico with a map that is 50% larger than Forza Horizon 4. Race with friends in multiple event types with hundreds of vehicles to choose from in fast-paced arcade action.


Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves offers the essential pirate experience, from sailing and fighting to exploring and looting. Everything you need to live the pirate life and become a legend in your own right. With no set roles, you have complete freedom to approach the world, and other players however you choose. Whether you’re voyaging as a group or sailing solo, you’re bound to encounter other crews in this shared-world adventure – but will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond? This one is best enjoyed with friends but offers some of the best looking landscapes to explore.


Microsoft Flight Simulator

Arguably the most ambitious title to be available on console, Microsoft Flight Sim is an experience like no other. The Gunk

A surprise hit was recently released in the form of The Gunk, which stars Rani, part of our duo of gritty space hauliers, struggling to make a buck as they chance upon an untouched planet brimming with life. They came in search of valuable resources, and it looks like they’ve hit the jackpot. As they uncover the dormant secrets of a shattered civilisation, they must battle the curse of a toxic gunk parasite, all while getting caught in a spiral of festering mistrust. Perfect if you want something a bit more relaxing to play.


Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is a thrilling cooperative first-person shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise. You are at the centre of a war against the Ridden. These once-human hosts of a deadly parasite have turned into terrifying creatures bent on devouring what remains of civilization. With humanity’s extinction on the line, it’s up to you and your friends to take the fight to the enemy, eradicate the Ridden, and reclaim the world. Perfect for sweaty sessions with your friends.


Aliens: Fireteam

If zombies arent your thing, then try Xenomorphs! Set in the iconic Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a co-operative third-person survival shooter that drops your fireteam of hardened marines into a desperate fight to contain the evolving Xenomorph threat. Face off against waves of terrifying Xenomorph and Weyland-Yutani Synthetic foes alongside two players or AI teammates, as you and your fireteam desperately fight your way through four unique campaigns that introduce new storylines to the Alien universe. Not the best looking game but with a couple of friends it’s a lot of fun.


DOOM Eternal

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

From the makers of Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC: Devil May Cry, comes a warrior’s brutal journey into myth and madness. Set in the Viking age, a broken Celtic warrior embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. Stardew Valley

One of the most renowned indie titles is now available to enjoy via Game Pass, fans of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon won’t want to miss this! You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

If you are the only person on the planet to not try Skyrim, then now is the time to experience one of the most accessible and iconic action RPG’s of all time, soon to receive a Series X|S upgrade to include graphical and performance boost alongside faster loading and new content. Explore a vast open land, influence the outcome of a war, eat a sweet roll and slay a dragon all before getting an arrow in your knee!


A Plague Tale: Innocence

The Medium

A surprise hit for one of the first titles on Series X|S with classic survival horror tones. Wield unique psychic abilities reserved for those with the gift of a Medium. Travel between the realities or explore them both at the very same time. Use the Out of Body experience to investigate places where your real-world self can’t go. Create energy shields and deliver powerful spirit blasts to survive the spirit world and its otherworldly dangers. For fans of Silent Hill, Clocktower and Alone in the Dark.



The first video game to ever win a HUGO Award is available right now on Game Pass. Battle out of hell in Hades, recipient of more than 50 Game of the Year awards! In this rogue-like dungeon crawler from the creators of Bastion and Transistor, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unravelling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.


Alien: Isolation

There was no way we were gonna leave this one off the list, not just one of the greatest survival horror titles ever created but one of the best-liscenesed games as well, now with FPS boost! Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions, and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission but simply to stay alive.
