[TBG’s October Fright Fest] Best Horror games on Nintendo Switch

It’s spooky season once again so why not fire up your Nintendo Switch and indulge in some knee-knocking action with TBG’s list of the Best Horror Games available right now. Though horror can take many forms depending on the player, we have put together a list guaranteed to contain at least one title to give you the heebie-jeebies this Halloween.

Resident Evil Revelations: Collection

Twice the Evil with this two-game collection featuring Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2. Revelations stars Jill Valentine as she investigates an abandoned cruise ship where terror lurks around every corner. Revelations 2 features two separate, but intertwined storylines starring Claire Redfield and Barry Burton as they find themselves on an abandoned prison island. All previous add-ons and DLC are included for both titles. For fans of RE4, these titles feel like the true follow up to that formula of intense action and tense horror with plenty of cheesy dialogue along the way!

Outlast: Bundle of Terror

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the research and charity branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy…until now. Continue to explore the dark world of the Murkoff Corporation with the included Outlast: Whistleblower DLC. Best played in handheld mode, on the toilet!

Layers of Fear: Legacy

Layers of Fear: Legacy is a psychological and psychedelic horror game about a madness engulfed painter striving to create his Magnum Opus. Learn the dark story of his past while gathering carefully crafted personal items that can be found in the game. Traverse the vision-induced, constantly changing house full of supernatural phenomena, where each move of the camera can shift the environment, and discover the true motive of the artist. Dorian Gray has no power here!

Darkwood

Craft weapons, prepare traps, fortify hideouts – you will explore and scavenge the eerie forests of the Soviet Bloc by day, then hunker down in your hideout at night. With nightmarish forces corrupting the woods, wait and pray for the sun to come up the next morning. Wade through the gruelling, bizarre world of Darkwood and delve into the creepiest secrets of its inhabitants to escape the infested land before it destroys your body and consumes your mind. With this many trees around, let us hope Sam Raimi wasn’t involved in the designs…

Luigi’s Mansion 3

He may still be cowardly, but Luigi has more tools and abilities at his disposal than ever before. Master Luigi’s new powerful moves of Slam, Suction Shot and Burst. Team up with Professor E. Gadd’s latest invention, Gooigi, an all-green doppelganger able to slip through tight spaces, walk on spikes, and otherwise help Luigi overcome obstacles he can’t get past alone. Explore the Last Resort, ascending through its differently themed doors full of quirky contraptions and haunting enemies. Granted, this will not give you the heebie-jeebies, but it’s one that has some awesome Halloween vibes riddled with Nintendo charm.

Alien: Isolation

Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Featuring all DLC and additional features from gyroscopic aiming to HD rumble, this Nintendo Switch version will keep you immersed in the horror. Why don’t they just freeze him?

Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed. Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey. The Survivors’ goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer – something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play. Hold on a second, we’ll be right back..

Blair Witch

Inspired by the cinematic lore of Blair Witch, experience a new story-driven psychological horror game that studies your reactions to fear and stress. Your darkest fears will awaken in these woods. It’s 1996. A young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. As Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, you join the search. What starts as an ordinary investigation soon turns into an endless nightmare as you confront your fears and the Blair Witch, a mysterious force that haunts the woods… Thankfully there are no close up’s of bogeys to worry about, or is there?

Bendy and The Ink Machine

The Secrets of Bendy and the Ink Machine are about to come to life! Bendy and the Ink Machine is a first-person puzzle-action-horror game with a unique cartoon atmosphere and an intense, frightening storyline that keeps you guessing throughout. Henry was the lead animator at Joey Drew Studios in its 1930s heyday, a studio that was best known for producing animated cartoons of their most popular and beloved character, Bendy. Many years later Henry receives a mysterious invitation from Joey Drew himself to return to the old cartoon workshop. Journey deep into the sketchy madness of this twisted cartoon nightmare. You’ll never look at steamboat willie the same way again!

Monstrum

Stranded on a derelict cargo ship, you find yourself hunted by one of Monstrum’s terrifying predators as you search for a way out. Death is death. Get killed in Monstrum and you’ll be starting all over again. As each creature has its own strategy, abilities and weaknesses, you have to use your wits to outsmart your pursuer in the ship’s procedurally generated environment. Can you survive Monstrum? Just be glad Uncle Albert isn’t at the helm!
