Lord Shmup here, writing on my behalf of my Wife, Elizelda. She steers the Xbox ship and plays the console as her main right now. Whenever Game Pass is on sale for the ridiculous price of $1 for three months, we gladly oblige and pay the price. Although it’s been a while since our last transaction, (one year since) she gladly picked up on some games where she left off and began anew on others.
First up to bat:
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
It’s a great game that looks enhanced graphically since last year. There are a ridiculous amount of side quests and it feels like I stay in the same town for two weeks at a time. This game turns me into a completionist and allows for burnout more quickly. When I play this game, I need to take breaks and move on to other games to play something totally different or lighthearted. This keeps the game exciting and fresh. I love the story, the plot, and the characters are enticing. I enjoy changing Geralt’s hair and don’t recall Lord Shmup ever doing that.
Next up:
Yakuza Kiwami
I played this game for a breath of fresh air since I loved Yakuza 6: Song of Life. I loved the main character, and being able to go around Japan in an area of Tokyo that I’ve visited. It’s fun to see things because they are realistic as they have real-life brands I’ve purchased and consumed. Looking at you, Boss coffee.
Yakuza Kiwami 2
I immediately began this following the completion of the prior title. I’m about halfway through the game now. There are a lot of cosmetic changes to the game menus and how fighting/abilities look. It is moulded more like the sixth instalment, so I can the theme forming from this title. The difference in graphics was more detail-oriented like the pores in peoples faces. In the first title majority of the buildings could not be entered, but in the sequel at many buildings can be entered without transition screens and the player can talk to NPC’s. The story is just as good as the last game and all the fun and wacky games are entertaining as ever.
Final Fantasy XV
The tutorial was lacklustre. I understand it’s there to teach the player how to use the controls but it felt too drawn out. I thought the graphics were good, I was excited to play this game based on the graphics alone because it didn’t care for the blocky look of the older titles. The game is still on my system but I was turned off by the tutorial so much that I stopped playing.

I’m currently playing New Super Lucky’s Tale and I really enjoyed playing the Switch demo. Everything was too small in handheld so I was excited to play this on my TV with Xbox. It has been a great change of pace from the more intense games I’ve been playing. It’s a light-hearted and relaxed game, with nice music and cute characters.
I’m excited to see what will be added to Game Pass in the next few months with the holidays coming up. I heard that the new Assassin’s Creed is going to be brought to Game Pass, I hope the other games are uploaded as well. It would be fun to replay some of those.
