WWE: NXT Results & Recap – Aug 28th, 2019

This week’s episode started out with Io Shirai vs Cami Fields. Shirai might be considered a heel right now, but she got nothing but cheers the entire match. I didn’t hear a single boo. And you know, this new shtick is just what she needed. After Shirai delivered her top-rope moonsault, she would stop the ref at the 2-count during the pin, and apply her new Koji Clutch submission to finish her. After the match, Shirai would get a Kendo stick from under the ring to add more punishment to Fields. But before Shirai could do anything, Candice LeRae would come out and take the stick from Shirai and attack her with it.

The second match followed with Keith Lee vs Dominik Dijakovic. This rematch was every bit as good as their first incredible match. The crowd was 100% invested the entire time. In the end, Dijakovic would stop Lee from what looked like was going to be a moonsault from the top rope and transitioned it into his Feast Your Eyes finisher for the win.

After this, we got a Johnny Gargano NXT career recap. The announcers were kind of hinting that this might be the end for Gargano at NXT. Shane Thorne would come out to the announce table and interrupt the discussion. He wanted to know why they are not talking about him instead. The segment came to an end after Mauro said they have to go to a commercial break.

When the show came back on, we see Baszler and her gang coming to the ring. Rhea Ripley would come out and interrupt Baszler before she could get a single one word out. Once Ripley made it to the ring, she ripped the mic out of out Baszler’s hand and said she hasn’t beaten her yet and called her a bitch. The crowd went crazy after this and Baszler seemed at a loss for words while leaving the ring.

After this was a quick segment with Pete Dunne. He said he isn’t done with NXT UK. He goes where he wants, whenever he wants. He came to NXT to come after the North American Championship.

The main event was next with the Undisputed Era vs the Street Profits for the NXT Tag Team Championship. This was a pretty good match overall. The Undisputed Era would deliver their high/low attack after Ford missed his frog splash to win back the titles. Which leaves them one step closer to fulfilling their prophecy to having all the titles.

And that wraps it up for this week’s episode. Next week so far we have the Velveteen Dream vs Kona Reeves in a non-title match and also Adam Cole defends his NXT Championship against Jordan Myles. Thanks for reading and long live wrestling!
