WWE: NXT Results & Recap – Aug 7th, 2019

This week’s episode started with the tag team championship contract signing with the Street Profits and the Undisputed Era. William Regal was already in the ring at the start of the show and announced the Street Profits to the ring. But once the Profits made it in the ring, they insisted on announcing the Undisputed Era. Montez Ford would announce them as Kyle O’Reilly Auto Parts and Lawrence Fishbourne Jr. After some trash talk back and forth, they signed the contracts. There was no cheap attack. Nobody going through any tables. Nothing. I can’t recall the last time I saw nothing happen at a contract signing.

This episode was heavy on building up TakeOver: Toronto that’s happening this Saturday. The preshow starts at 6pm ET and the main card starts at 7pm ET, in case you were wondering. So with that said, here are the scheduled matches for TakeOver: Toronto:

  • Candice LeRae vs Io Shirai
  • Cameron Grimes vs Jordan Myles in the Breakout Tournament Finals
  • Pete Dunne vs Roderick Strong vs Velveteen Dream (c) for the NXT North American Championship
  • Mia Yim vs Shayna Baszler (c) for the Women’s NXT Championship
  • Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole (c) in a two out of three match for the NXT Championship

We did have one match on the show with Joaquin Wilde vs Shane Thorne. It was an OK match. Thorne would win with a running knee strike. There was another scheduled match with Matt Riddle vs Killian Dane. That match though ended before it started as Dane would attack Riddle from behind while he was making his way to the win lring.

Near the end of the show was a backstage segment with Cathy Kelley and Breezango. Breeze asks where Fandango has been. Fandango says he was in too deep. He goes on to say that they were too busy policing everyone instead of policing themselves. He began to notice that their fashion senses were wack and it’s time for Breezango reimagined.

And that wraps it up for this week’s episode. Not a lot of new content here unfortunately. Next week the reimagined Breezango go up against the Forgotten Sons. Enjoy this PPV filled weekend, thanks for reading, and long live wrestling!
